Oregon City Commission selects Variant 2 for new city flag; will draft ordinance

Staff presented three color and stripe options for a redesigned city flag. Commissioners discussed public feedback and symbolism — including references to the river, falls and public squares — and several members said they preferred the left-hand Variant 2 palette for its balance of color and character.
A commissioner moved to adopt Variant 2 (left option) and to direct staff to prepare an ordinance. The motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous voice/roll-call vote. The commission also asked staff to return later with a city seal design to pair with the new flag.
Outcome: motion passed; staff will prepare an ordinance for a future meeting.
