North Bay appoints building, electrical and plumbing inspectors to take effect Jan. 1, 2026

At its Nov. 24 meeting the Village of North Bay Board of Trustees approved motions to appoint three independent-contract inspectors effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Clerk Dori A. Panthofer told trustees that to attract inspectors and cover rising administrative costs the village should raise the minimum inspector fee to $100 and an administrative fee to $50 (or 5% of the total fee), and consider contracts that reimburse liability insurance for independent contractors. The Board directed Attorney Larsen to draft contracts that include an insurance-reimbursement clause.
Following that discussion, Constable Rocco Castellano moved to appoint Jacob Likpe (business name TBD) as Building, Fence & HVAC Inspector; Gregg Hansen as Village Electrical Inspector; and Rick Herman of Herman Plumbing LLC as Village Plumbing Inspector, all as independent contractors effective Jan. 1, 2026. Trustee Paul Schroeder seconded the motion and it passed with all present voting in favor.
Clerk Panthofer also noted plumbing and electrical inspector candidates already carry insurance and indicated the Village will finalize independent-contractor agreements with Attorney Larsen before the appointments take effect.
