The vote came after the village’s 2026 budget hearing, which adjourned at 7:02 p.m. and preceded the trustees’ meeting. Constable Rocco Castellano moved to approve the resolution; Trustee Paul Schroeder seconded. The motion carried with all present voting in favor.
Treasurer Robert E. O’Brien had earlier distributed financial reports and a property-tax summary showing an average 8% increase in local property taxes, which he attributed primarily to the Racine Unified referendum passed in April of 2025. The Board did not change the levy amount after the hearing.
The budget sets the village’s operating plan for 2026 and follows standard procedural steps: a separate public hearing, formal reading of the resolution and a recorded unanimous vote at the Nov. 24 meeting. The board did not identify further amendments; implementation will follow the village’s administrative procedures for budget enactment.
