Eunice aldermen adopt 2025 tax millages, approve opioid settlement and local measures

The Eunice Mayor and Board of Aldermen and Alderwomen met Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, in regular session at Eunice City Hall and approved a slate of administrative and financial measures, including the city’s 2025 property tax millage rates and a resolution approving an opioid class‑action settlement.
The board voted to adopt Resolution 0825, setting 2025 property tax millages at 6.53 mills for General Alimony and 4.82 mills for Street Maintenance. Alderwoman Connie Thibodeaux moved the millage resolution; Alderman Chad Andrepont seconded the motion, which carried.
City Attorney Stan Feucht presented a resolution relating to settlement in the opioid class‑action litigation. The board adopted Resolution 0825(B), approving the settlement and authorizing any further settlement agreements; Alderwoman Germaine Simpson moved the resolution and Alderman Chad Andrepont seconded.
The board also authorized an intergovernmental agreement with the St. Landry Parish Government to permit the parish to sell adjudicated property located inside Eunice city limits; Alderman Randall Reed moved the authorization and Alderwoman Germaine Simpson seconded.
