The request arrived during the meeting’s public-comment period. Cardenas said neighbors sometimes mow as late as 9:48 p.m. and that multiple calls to police and camera footage had not stopped the behavior. She asked the council to consider an earlier cutoff to balance homeowners’ needs and neighborhood quiet.
Mayor Pro Tem (presiding) and other council members acknowledged the complaint and asked the speaker to leave contact information with the clerk for follow-up; the clerk confirmed the public-comment sheet had the speaker’s details. No ordinance change was proposed or put to a vote at the meeting.
The council regularly receives noise and enforcement complaints during public comment. Any formal change to the ordinance would require staff research, potential legal review and a council vote at a future meeting.
