Kingsburg certifies Measure E renewal, authorizes implementation agreements

City Manager Alexander Henderson told the council that Fresno County's official tally for the June 2, 2026 primary showed the Measure E public safety sales tax renewal passed with 2,537 yes votes and 718 no votes (77.94% in favor). Measure E is a 1% transaction and use tax first approved by Kingsburg voters in 2018 for a ten‑year term; the renewed measure will continue funding public‑safety services if properly implemented.
Staff recommended three resolutions: to certify the election results (Resolution 2026‑028), to authorize the city manager to execute agreements with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration for implementation (Resolution 2026‑029), and to authorize examinations of transaction and use tax records (Resolution 2026‑030). Council adopted all three resolutions by voice vote.
Councilmembers thanked staff and volunteers for outreach during the campaign. City staff noted the renewal requires agreements and ministerial steps to implement the tax and to enable certain staff to examine tax records for revenue monitoring.
