Ashland Open Space & Recreation Committee approves fall event spending, seeks disability input for OSRP draft

At its June 9 meeting the Ashland Open Space & Recreation Committee voted to authorize supplies for a planned fall event and discussed outreach tied to the town's Open Space & Recreation Plan (OSRP).
On a motion by Jeanne Walker seconded by Judith Sallet, the committee voted 7-0-0 to authorize member Ashwini Chitnavis to purchase supplies for the event in an amount not to exceed $450. The committee confirmed it will advertise the event at the OSRC booth at the Farmers' Market on July 11.
Committee members reported there has been no response yet from staff to OSRC edits emailed May 17, 2026. Jeanne Walker said she is trying to recruit residents with disabilities or family members of residents with disabilities to speak with the committee about needs and how the town can better serve accessibility in open space and recreation planning.
The committee also voted, on a motion by Martin Ring and seconded by Jeanne Walker, to authorize Chairperson Roberta Soolman to submit an application for an OSRC booth at Ashland Day; that motion passed 7-0-0. Members expressed a preference to repeat the activity used last year.
