City clerk and municipal court present annual reports; clerk highlights records modernization

City Clerk Christie presented the 2025 annual report at the April 2 City Council meeting, outlining the clerk’s office responsibilities (meeting records, ordinance codification, open-records management) and recent accomplishments. Christie noted the city adopted an ordinance to consolidate municipal polling places with county locations, which she said coincided with increased voter turnout.
Christie also described efforts to consolidate and digitize McDonough Memorial Cemetery records and the office’s work to implement an electronic open-records request portal (NextRequest) and a new chamber voting monitor for more transparent in-room vote displays.
Municipal court administrator Trisha reported on court operations, staffing levels (five full-time, two part-time), CJIS compliance, caseload trends and modernization goals including paperless transitions and improved public calendar displays. Trisha said current trends suggest a projected rise in municipal citations and described steps to maintain timely hearings and case processing.
Councilmembers thanked both presenters and asked staff to continue advancing digital records and to return with updates as those systems come online.
