The McDonough City Council publicly named Keith Dickerson as the sole finalist for the city administrator position during its Jan. 20 meeting and agreed to consider formal appointment at the council’s Feb. 5 meeting after the required 14‑day notice period.
City Attorney advised the council on the statutory process and said the finalist had been informed and provided a proposed contract. A councilmember moved to name Dickerson as the sole finalist; the motion was seconded and passed by a recorded vote of 7‑0.
The city attorney noted the council has the option to enter executive session to discuss personnel matters; the session was later convened under appropriate OCGA citations. The public naming begins the notice period required by state law before a final appointment and execution of a contract.
