Village municipal operations staff told the Village Board on April 22 that recent heavy rains revealed multiple leaks in the East Park Street sewer line.
Director of Municipal Operations Jesse Rankin presented video footage from a sewer-line inspection that identified several places where groundwater is entering the system. Rankin said staff have already repaired several of the identified problems, but that the line will likely require relining in the future. He noted there were no funds budgeted for a relining in the current fiscal year.
Board members agreed by consensus to table formal action on the sewer repairs until staff can gather more information and provide cost estimates for inclusion in next year’s budget. Municipal operations staff also reported pump activity after heavy rain and identified a few areas on Park Street that will need attention; asphalt repairs related to water-main breaks are scheduled for the first week of May.
The board did not set a timetable for the relining decision; staff will continue to monitor the line and report back with estimates.
