Eric, the official overseeing the public‑safety radio project, said the county began switching agencies to a new digital radio system this week, including police, EMS and fire, after earlier delays caused by a lightning strike. He said the conversion covers more than 112 safety agencies and includes four new tower sites intended to increase countywide coverage. On project cost he made an imprecise remark that was transcribed as ‘‘probably $20,000,000 or so’’; the record does not provide a clarified, firm budget figure.
On recreational facilities, a department representative said a final walkthrough with the pool‑liner contractor is scheduled and county staff will meet with YMCA representatives the next morning at 9:30 a.m. at the pool to coordinate a phased reopening in the coming weeks.
