The Common Council of the City of Eagle River approved a conditional use permit to the Vilas County Ag Society/Vilas County Fair Board to allow overnight camping for Kingdom of Wonders Circus workers at the Vilas County Fairgrounds from July 13 to July 16, 2026, contingent on a recommendation from the Planning Commission at its July 2 meeting.
Robin Ginner, listed in the meeting attendance, noted timing constraints related to the circus schedule and the council calendar. Councilmember Vic Washelesky moved to approve the conditional use permit; Councilmember Kim Schaffer seconded. The motion carried on a roll call vote with Ayes recorded as Washelesky, Schaffer and Dumas; Nays: none.
The approval at the June 17 special meeting was recorded as contingent on the Planning Commission recommendation scheduled for July 2. The council took the action because the timing of the circus and upcoming calendar required the permit to be approved in advance of the council's next regular meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 4:19 p.m.
