Elmwood trustees approve resolutions and permits, postpone two late business-license renewals

The Village of Elmwood Board of Trustees took several administrative and public-safety actions June 8, approving a resolution, selecting a website vendor, and approving festival permits while postponing two late business-license renewals.
On a roll-call motion, the board approved CMAR Resolution #2026-108 as submitted. The Personnel & Finance Committee recommended and the board approved selecting Town Web for the village website. Trustees also voted to leave funds from a recently matured Certificate of Deposit in the village MMA account rather than reinvest at this time.
Trustees discussed business license renewals after Village President Neil Boltik and staff flagged two establishments that had not submitted renewal paperwork on time: Kern’s Hometown Café LLC and La Veracruzana. Chief Darren Ekholm told the board licenses expire June 30 and said alcohol sales would need to be removed or secured until renewed licenses are approved; the establishments could be subject to inspection. Trustees Jim Schwaybach and Paul Unser moved to postpone consideration of those two renewals until the July meeting; trustees approved the postponement and approved the remaining renewals.
The board also approved permits for the UFO Days festival (July 22–27). Chief Darren Ekholm said road-closure permits will mirror prior years and set open-container hours for the event: Friday 6:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m.–2:00 a.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. The board approved the UFO permits by voice vote.
Other personnel and finance items: quotes for upstairs auditorium floor repairs were discussed and tabled pending additional quotes, and a resident proposal to perform painting in exchange for a water-bill credit was discussed and not adopted. Trustees approved payment of the bills during the meeting.
