Upper Adams board ratifies three‑year teachers contract and approves consent items

The Upper Adams School District Board of School Directors on July 14 approved a three‑year collective bargaining agreement with the Upper Adams Education Association that will run through the 2028–29 school year, the board president said.

Board president (speaker) described the pact as reached before the prior contract expired and praised both sides for what she called "a genuine commitment" to a fair result that provides continuity for staff and students. "I think this agreement strikes an appropriate balance between investing in our valued teachers while also being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars," the president said.

The agreement followed roughly six months of negotiations, board members said, and passed on a roll call vote during the meeting. At the same session the board accepted FFA and Leo Club donations — including a $200 gift from Lions International District 14 C — and approved technology purchases for the coming school year, including a SMART Board for Baywell Elementary and Raptor Technologies services for 2026–27.

The board also approved operational items on the consent agenda: an agreement for water‑treatment services and chemicals, a partnership with the Adams County Treasurer’s Office to collect school district property tax for Orangeville and Bennettsville boroughs through June 30, 2030, and the temporary appointment of Jack Citroen as board secretary beginning Aug. 1 while the district recruits a permanent replacement.

Board members thanked negotiators and district staff for completing deals before the contract expired and emphasized the agreement’s role in preserving classroom continuity heading into the new school year. The meeting agenda also included personnel items, policy votes, and candidate interviews for two open board seats.
