Bannock County facilities director reports fairground repairs, introduces new maintenance specialist

Kendall said crews finished framing sleeping quarters in McCammon and installed a new front sidewalk at the Exhibit Building in Downey “so everyone will have a better access to the front door.” He told commissioners the lawn and site work were complete and that the county added three Wi‑Fi antennas near the softball field and barns to improve vendor connectivity.
Hunter Brewer, introduced by Kendall as a maintenance specialist, described her background: “I was born and raised in Montana, graduated high school out of Helena,” and said she studied diesel technology and agriculture business at MSU Northern before moving to Idaho three years ago.
Kendall reported the ag extension’s sewer line had been replaced all the way out to Fairgrounds Road after repeated plugging; he said the concession/restroom plumbing near the grandstand had been a primary source of problems but that the replacement has stopped further issues. He also said the county finished stucco work and replaced lettering on the annex to match the courthouse, and that the courthouse parking lot was resealed and restriped after subsurface repairs.
The facilities director warned that summer heat has kept air‑conditioning units running continuously but said staff have resolved only a few issues. He described a plan to install about 30 three‑foot parking barriers to keep vehicles off new sod and protect the grounds during the fair, and said staff would assist fair organizers as needed.
Kendall thanked Pocatello‑area fire and ambulance crews for providing hands‑on help with moving and framing at a job site. The chair requested a log of volunteer and mutual‑aid hours; Kendall said he has started a time card and will record both county and assisting agencies’ hours to document in‑kind labor and support reimbursement claims.
The commissioners and staff discussed invoicing and cost‑sharing for a small remodel; Kendall said original pricing did not include labor and that a partner would pay a portion of an initial invoice, with reimbursement to occur after project completion.
The meeting moved next to consent items and claims when the chair called for a motion to pay items on the claims agenda.
