Charlemont assessors approve warrants, revised assessments and PILOT items including Tea Street solar underassessment

The Charlemont Board of Assessors approved several collection and assessment items at its Dec. 1 meeting.
On a motion by Anthony Ostroski seconded by Andrea Santos, the Board unanimously approved and signed: a warrant to the collector and notice of commitment for 2025 motor vehicle excise commitment #6; a revised assessment list to collect a Tea Street solar PILOT underassessment; a warrant to the collector and notice of commitment for the revised assessment; and the Franklin County Regional Housing & Redevelopment Authority PILOT assessment.
Town Clerk Thorne Palmer attended an appointment to notarize Board signatures on seven Chapter 61/A/B new and amended land tax liens for named property owners, and the Board thanked Palmer for providing the notary service.
During discussion, Hayden explained the Tea Street difference arose because the PILOT sets a fixed payment but the tax rate used in valuation determination changed; because certification timing required early submission, values were based on the prior year’s tax rate, producing an underassessment that the revised list seeks to correct. The minutes do not specify the dollar amount of the Tea Street underassessment or the motor vehicle warrant.
