Presenter (speaker 9) said Alliant Energy proposed placing a transformer to serve the west side of the square and the Eugene Motel project and that the utility would cover all costs and any restoration. Board members raised concerns about taking up two parking stalls, moving nearby handicap stalls and the impacts on snow removal. Staff said the transformer could be placed in a corner location to reduce interference with snow piling and that bollards would be used for protection.
A board member suggested wording the council motion to allow the director of public works to make the final determination on the exact stall placement; staff agreed to confirm with Alliant Energy which location best met their needs before council consideration. The board voted unanimously to forward the easement request to council.
