Board reviews multiyear support plan for RISE Academy as VDOE-required school improvement

Miss Hilton presented a multiyear school support plan for RISE Academy, which she said was required by the Virginia Department of Education for schools identified as CSI (Comprehensive Support and Improvement).
“The plan is a three-year strategic improvement plan focused on accelerating student achievement in reading, math, and science, while also strengthening school culture, climate, and student engagement,” Miss Hilton said, adding that progress will be tracked with student achievement data, attendance metrics, classroom observations and stakeholder feedback. She said the planning year has concluded and the plan must be submitted to VDOE by June 30.
Board members asked whether they could see the detailed actions and timelines. Miss Hilton said a detailed copy is available and offered to provide it to board members in addition to the summary presented at the meeting.
The presentation did not require board action at this meeting; the board accepted the report and staff indicated they would submit the plan to VDOE and provide the full plan to board members on request.
