The Paramus Municipal Pool Commission spent part of its June 11 meeting on summer programming logistics, discussing a planned baseball night and home-run-derby, band-night advertising and swim/dive team registration and practice times.
Commissioner Brian Casey outlined logistics for a baseball night event with a community home-run derby to start at 7 p.m., and commissioners asked that band-night dates be posted on the town bulletin board to increase visibility. The recreation liaison and manager discussed advertising and registration mechanics through Community Pass.
The commission also reviewed swim and dive team registration and tryout schedules. Staff reported that swimmers were not exiting locker rooms quickly enough at practice, and after considering a proposal to change practice times the commission decided to retain the current schedule while asking the manager to investigate ways to speed locker-room turnover.
Commissioners noted that recreation department play equipment (balls, knock hockey, a new ping-pong table) would be made available to the pool for programming. No formal votes were recorded on programming changes; staff will carry out advertising and registration tasks and report back as needed.
