Board: bathroom renovation trimmed by $200,000; solar panels and preschool improvements moving forward

The Greene County Comm School District board received updates on several facilities projects and a solar installation.
Chair (S1) told the board that meetings with architect OPN produced material changes that reduced the Landesco bathroom project cost by over $200,000 and brought the project within the proposed budget. "So hopefully, we'll be able to have some work start there by the end of August or at least September," S1 said, with a projected completion in spring.
S1 also reported progress on the district's solar program: "Panels started getting installed at the elementary this week," S1 said, noting both ground mounts and roof mounts are in progress and groundwork was beginning at the high school site. S1 described site preparation including herbicide treatment and berm work ahead of installation.
On the preschool playground, S1 said new apparatus is installed with remaining concrete work and fencing to be completed so preschoolers can use the equipment when classes begin. The district's greenhouse still has electrical and plumbing punch-list items, which S1 said staff are addressing.
No formal board action was required for these informational updates; staff will return with timelines and construction updates as projects proceed.
