Paramus Pool Commission orders repairs, schedules extra lessons and readies AEDs after maintenance checks

The Paramus Pool Commission heard a series of maintenance and safety updates at its May 28 meeting, with borough and pool staff reporting completed repairs, outstanding equipment needs and scheduling changes ahead of the summer season.
Garrett Luna, the borough liaison, told commissioners that Rapid Pump completed a necessary pump repair and that Hudson Labs performed water testing that day. Luna said registrations are running higher than at the same point last year and that a broken pool vacuum will be replaced. He also reported that a new water cooler has been purchased to replace the broken unit, and that the slide currently has no power; a work order has been submitted to address the electrical issue.
Pool Manager Stephen Trocolar outlined additional operational items: an active work order for a manager-room ceiling leak, recently installed electrical meter work and a request to schedule one to two midday swim lessons in addition to evening lessons. Trocolar said water-aerobics classes are planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays and that practice AED/CPR mannequins and a backboard are needed for staff training; Councilman Ace Antonio agreed to look into procurement of training equipment.
Luna said remaining grant funds will be used to purchase a new public-address system and that first-aid supplies and AEDs have been ordered but had not yet arrived. Buildings-and-grounds work includes painting (high-dive steps were singled out), new padded casing for basketball hoops and mulch work by Shade Tree for landscaping.
The commission approved the payment of several routine vendor invoices during the meeting (see separate article on bills approved). The meeting concluded with commissioners asking staff to post timely closure notices on the pool webpage as well as social channels and the borough sign boards.
The commission did not take further formal action on capital projects at this meeting; Councilman Ace Antonio said the Borough Administrator, Hector Olmo, is overseeing the bid process for larger capital work (filter/pump room, liner, roof and locker rooms).
