Chichester Cemetery Trustees set July 14 review of tree-removal bids, note completed gate repair and trust update

The Chichester Cemetery Trustees met July 6, 2026, at the Historical Society building and asked the Selectmen to meet with them July 14 to review remaining bids for a cemetery tree-removal project and decide on a contract.
Selectman Matt Stolnis brought two bids to the trustees and told the group bidding closed June 30, 2026; he said Selectwoman Carrianne Wood has overseen the procurement but is out of town until July 9. The trustees requested that the Selectmen place them on the July 14 agenda and asked that the Selectmen select a bid at that meeting. Selectman Stolnis agreed to place the trustees on the agenda.
Trustee Brenda Boswak and her colleagues recorded maintenance items. Trustee Fred Shaw reported that Don Cotnoir of NH Monuments completed removal of a metal gate post at Batchelder Cemetery and installed a matching granite post repurposed from Leavitt Cemetery; Cotnoir proposed powder-coating the gate and providing hinges, and the trustees asked him for a cost estimate.
Trustees also noted that Garry Kalajian of Ararat Forge repainted the Knowlton-Edgerly Cemetery gates installed last season and is working on gates for Kaime Cemetery.
Mr. Shaw said he will follow up with the Town Administrator about submitting cemetery boundary information that is missing from the town tax map (AVITAR). The trustees reported contacting the Town Treasurer after finding a discrepancy in the 2025 Cemetery General Expense spreadsheet; there was no update from the Treasurer at the meeting.
On trusts and finance, Martha Dodge-Wilkerson provided a written amendment to her trust that adds the word “new” to avoid future confusion; Trustee Fred Shaw will process the amendment with the Trustees of the Trust Funds and the state of New Hampshire. The trustees also revised the "Payment Request to Trustees of the Trust Funds" form for clarity.
Linda Rauter met with the trustees to discuss purchasing a "Right to Inter" contract and to receive information about green-burial options in Chichester; the trustees recorded the inquiry for follow-up. The trustees agreed to have a display at Old Home Day on Aug. 15, 2026, to share information with residents.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m. The trustees' next confirmed step from this meeting is the July 14 session with the Selectmen to review and decide on the tree-removal bids.
