Mills County supervisors reject measure to expand board membership

Supervisor Jack Sayers supported the measure; Supervisors Richard Crouch and Lonnie Mayberry voted against it. The motion failed on a roll-call vote: Aye—Jack Sayers; Nay—Richard Crouch, Lonnie Mayberry.
The proposal drew public comment in favor before the vote. Residents Chris Weide, Dan Stanley, Bonnie Millsap, Lucy Wilson and Duane Olsen spoke during the meeting in support of sending the question to voters, according to the meeting minutes. The minutes record that speakers urged action but do not include exact wording of their remarks.
The resolution cited Iowa Code 331.203 as the statutory mechanism for submitting a proposition to voters. The Board did not adopt the resolution, so no question will be placed on the ballot as a result of this meeting.
