The Orange Select Board handled routine business at its Sept. 2 meeting, approving minutes and a building permit, reviewing outstanding maintenance tasks and hearing a public comment from the Orange Historical Society.
Samara Pitre moved to approve the public meeting minutes of Aug. 26, 2025; Aaron Allen seconded and the motion passed 2-0-0 (Lucy LaChance arrived after the vote). Pitre then moved to approve sealed minutes of the Aug. 26 nonpublic session; Allen seconded and that motion also passed 2-0-0. Later, Allen moved and Pitre seconded approval of a building permit for Cardosi (map 3 lot 61E) pending fee collection; that motion passed 3-0-0.
The board reviewed an open action-item list that includes obtaining updated quotes for a vapor barrier in a crawl space (Erickson Foundations provided a quote; an updated quote from Chey is pending), addressing clapboard deterioration noted by roofers (to be reviewed by Bruce Ells), scheduling a septic-system installation planned for Sept'Nov by Bob Senter, installing attic roof vents (Bruce Ells to install in September), and hiring a handyman to prepare attic insulation work. The handyman has been alerted and will report back; a new task assigned was snow-angel and snow-fence installation with a Nov. 1 target date.
During public comment, Nathaniel Dunlap-Smith, speaking for the Orange Historical Society, said the society's video kiosk will be up and running with added content, including a local commercial filmed in Orange, in time for the open house on Sunday, Sept. 7. The board reviewed and signed bills and vouchers. Lucy LaChance moved to adjourn; Samara Pitre seconded, and the meeting adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
