Cass County Sheriff's Office reports steady 2025 calls in Horace, warns residents about impersonation scams

Keller said much of the increase in suspicious calls stems from proactive deputy patrols creating self-generated contacts. He also warned residents about fraudsters impersonating deputies, explaining callers have used deputies' names and asked for money via Green Dot or gift cards; he asked residents to hang up on suspicious calls and contact the sheriff's office to verify.
Council members thanked the sheriff for training efforts and the partnership with the city; Keller credited staff (including an intelligence analyst named Brandon Johnson) for compiling reports. The council had no additional action on the report.
