Kensington council finalizes committee assignments, keeps most incumbents in place

The Kensington town council on July 15 reviewed and confirmed committee assignments for the new two-year term, keeping many incumbent members on standing committees and designating a point person for business outreach.

Tracy reviewed the roster and the council agreed to keep Nate and Anne on the auditing committee. Nate was confirmed as the town’s board of elections representative, and Committee member (S5) volunteered to take on ethics commission responsibilities, noting that the ethics commission typically meets annually to review financial disclosures.

Other standing assignments confirmed included: - Greenscape: Anne and Tracy, with a focus on completing the Ernest Memorial park project. - Development Review Board (DRB): Connor and Nate to continue as the council’s DRB representatives; council members encouraged attendance at DRB meetings for greater project detail. - Mobility and Traffic Committee (MTC): Stuart Sparker and Alan Simon were listed as MTC representatives; a council member said they would check with Alan about continuing service. - Sustainable Kensington: Anne and Nate to continue serving. - Business community liaison: Tracy said she will serve as the point person while the full council remains engaged; council discussion considered naming a single contact to give local business groups a clear route for outreach.

Council members said many of these roles are intended as point-person contacts rather than exclusive representatives; the council emphasized rotating responsibilities to spread workload and ensure continuity on ongoing projects. The council scheduled the regular meeting to start at 7:00 p.m. after the organizational items were completed.

The assignments were adopted as part of the organizational meeting; no formal ordinances or budget changes were enacted at this session.
