The Orford Board of Selectmen reviewed plans for the Indian Pond culvert project at its July 22, 2025 meeting and signed a wetland permit to allow work to proceed, officials said. Selectboard member Kevin Follensbee and contractor Ed Paige signed the permit during the public meeting.
The board discussed the steps required with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services Wetland Bureau and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, both of which may visit the site to monitor work, according to meeting notes. Contractor Ed Paige said he will take photographs of the work while it proceeds and will provide a materials list for the Road Agent to order.
Paige estimated an initial start date of Aug. 11 but said he would confirm a firm date; the Selectboard will notify the NH DES Wetland Bureau and post the permits at the work site once a start date is finalized. Road Agent Nutter will post "Road Closed - No Thru Traffic" signs; the board recorded that the road is expected to be closed for about one week during construction.
The board also noted coordination steps: Road Agent Nutter will notify the Piermont Road Agent, and Esther Dobbins-Marsh, a town staff member who submitted the minutes, will notify the Piermont Selectboard administrative assistant. Meeting notes state that any issues the contractor encounters will be addressed with the Road Agent.
