The Orange Select Board signed the town's final 2025 tax warrant on Nov. 13, 2025, after officials said a calculation error by the town's Department of Revenue Administration (DRA) advisor required revisions to revised revenues.
The board reported the preliminary total tax rate had been calculated at $17.36 per $1,000 of assessed value. After the correction the board recorded a final total rate of $17.40. The town portion increased from $4.56 to $4.60 per $1,000; the Mascoma School District, state education, and county components remained listed as $11.20, $0.79 and $0.81 respectively. The minutes list the overlay amount changing from $39,316 in the preliminary figures to $19,228 in the final figures.
The board also reviewed and signed the October 2025 Treasurer's report and the Select Board reconciliation at the meeting; the chair signed the report after members said figures were on target. No formal vote on the tax warrant is recorded beyond the board's signing of the final warrant on Nov. 13.
By finalizing the warrant, the board set the tax rate that will be applied to property assessments in the coming year. The board did not elaborate in the minutes on whether the change in overlay will prompt further adjustments or appeals; the DRA advisor error was recorded in the minutes as the reason for the revision. The Select Board will next meet Dec. 2, 2025.
