The Orford Selectboard on June 11 appointed two residents to the town’s Conservation Commission, approved a $4,000 surviving‑spouse tax credit tied to a service‑connected total disability, and handled routine administrative business.
Selectboard members approved David Hubbard for a three‑year Conservation Commission term and Earl Johnson for a two‑year term. Both appointments were made by recorded motion — Hubbard (motion by Larry Taylor, seconded by Charles Smith Jr.); Johnson (motion by Kevin Follensbee, seconded by Charles Smith Jr.) — and each motion passed 3–0.
The board also approved a Spouse of a Disabled Veteran tax credit for Suzanne Ricker in the amount of $4,000. The motion, made by Kevin Follensbee and seconded by Charles Smith Jr., passed 3–0 and the credit will be applied beginning with the 2026 tax year.
In other administrative business the board set municipal fuel rates for June 1, 2025–May 31, 2026 at $1.662 per gallon for propane and $2.668 per gallon for heating oil. The Selectboard also signed a request from the Friends of the Libraries permitting a raffle during the summer concert series and approved the minutes of the May 28 meeting (motion passed 3–0).
