Lysander planning board approves Angry Pig site use with lighting and sewer conditions

The Town of Lysander Planning Board on June 11 approved a Controlled Site Use for Angry Pig, a proposed food/service use at 2935 Lamson Road, with conditions requiring an external lighting plan and completion of a sewer hookup before issuance of permits.

Joshua Reynolds, the applicant, explained that an earlier Zoning Board of Appeals variance better reflects the business’s intended occupancy and activities and reduces the standard parking calculation. Town Engineer Al Yager reviewed a June 11, 2026 letter saying the site plan is consistent with the previously granted ZBA variances and the Neighborhood Residential Business District standards but noted the plan does not show exterior lighting; he recommended conditioning approval on submission of a lighting plan. Yager also confirmed the sewer has adequate capacity to serve the proposed use, subject to required approvals.

The board’s record shows the ZBA granted a use variance to allow a 338‑square‑foot expansion of an existing structure, a 900‑square‑foot pavilion and a 1,663‑square‑foot future bathroom/mechanical expansion, and an area variance reducing parking from 84 to 50 spaces and permitting drive‑aisle reductions. Onondaga County Planning Board comments on the project recommended coordination with county Water Environment Protection and Health departments regarding wastewater service and encouraged the town and applicant to consider limits or buffers for potential noise and odor impacts if concerts or outdoor cooking occur on site.

Chairman John Corey moved approval of the Controlled Site Use conditioned on (1) submission of an external lighting plan and (2) completion of the sewer hookup; the motion passed 4–0. Reynolds thanked the board after the vote.

Next steps: Reynolds must submit the required lighting plan and complete the sewer connection as conditions of the board’s approval before building permits or expanded operations proceed.
