Glandorf council advances park improvements, approves $50,000 payment to Park Board

At its June 2 meeting the Glandorf Village Council received an update from Mayor David Dalrymple on park projects and approved budgeted funding for park improvements.
The mayor reported that work on the canoe/kayak launch continues and concrete work should begin soon. Backstops, dugouts and netting at Deters Park are complete, and Shelter House #3 is expected to be finished shortly. New sidewalks to connect the west side of the main park are scheduled to begin soon, and estimates are being prepared to repair the main park restroom doors.
Dalrymple also proposed a redesigned flagpole area in the main park honoring branches of the military; he said he will consult local veterans groups and obtain estimates. He noted contact with Ag Pro about filling the ditch along SR 224 — Ag Pro reportedly supports the project and agreed to mow the area after completion; the mayor said he will coordinate with ODOT and intends the work as a 2027 budget item.
Fiscal Officer Sharon Stechschulte requested permission to pay the Glandorf Park Board $50,000 from the 2026 budget for Deters Park improvements; the council approved the payment with all members in favor. Steve Buerger of the Lions Club asked council to consider funding for the canoe/kayak launch and to review the pergola he built so placement is ready when needed.
Sharon also noted that Brian lnkrott needs to sign the OPWC Pay Application Request #1 for the canoe/kayak launch. The Board of Public Affairs reported that the Community Matrix report has been filed and the annual Consumer Confidence Report is due July 1 and will be posted as required by the Ohio EPA.
A finance committee meeting was scheduled for June 16 to review the 2027 budget; the formal budget hearing is set for July 7 at 7 p.m.
