Parents and therapists urge Oradell to help clear permitting delays delaying new ABA center

At the Oradell Borough Council meeting on July 14, staff and parents from GoldenCare Therapy urged the council to help resolve lingering permitting and inspection issues that have delayed the opening of a new Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) center.
Ashley, introduced herself as operations manager for GoldenCare Therapy and said the center has been trying to open for more than a year. She told the council that a zoning board variance granted in February has not yet led to final approval from the construction official and that the delays have cost the center staff and clients. "These delays have had a direct impact on our learners and our families," Ashley said, asking the council to facilitate better communication between the building department and GoldenCare so the center can open "this summer."
Jess Gose, a board certified behavior analyst and Oradell resident who works for GoldenCare, described the clinical importance of early, consistent, center-based ABA services for children with autism and said families have been waiting months. "Early intervention is so important because young children's brains are rapidly developing," Gose said. She asked the council to prioritize resolving outstanding building-department concerns so services can begin before the end of the summer.
Council members asked Ashley to leave her business card with Mr. Hines for staff follow-up. The exchange focused on facilitating interdepartmental communications and ensuring the construction official’s outstanding items are addressed so the center can meet safety and code requirements.
What happens next: GoldenCare was asked to provide contact information to Mr. Hines for follow-up. Council staff will coordinate with the building department to clarify remaining requirements and next steps toward final approval.
