Kasson City Park Board approves dollar-day swims during fair week to encourage attendance

The Kasson City Park Board voted June 16 to hold dollar-day swims during the city fair to attract fairgoers and boost concession sales. Johan (Committee member) proposed the idea, noting operations are already staffed during the fair and that a reduced-fee strategy could introduce more visitors to the pool.
"We try to encourage people to use it. ... If people are here from West Concord or wherever, we would see a boost in concession sales," Johan said, urging a short trial during fair week. Board members suggested various formats (dollar-day, reduced-fee days, distributing passes at the fair) and discussed practicalities including staffing and promotion.
The board also discussed a related request from the City of Byron after Byron'9s pool failure; City of Byron will compensate Kasson City so Byron residents may use the pool at the resident rate. The board asked staff to account for that revenue in the pool'9s revenue line.
On a voice vote the board approved a Wednesday/Thursday/Friday reduced-fee plan for the fair week, with staff tasked to implement logistics and limited advertising.
