Boulder beverage authority approves past minutes, hears public commenter urging denial of liquor licenses

The City of Boulder Beverage Licensing Authority on July 15 approved minutes from four past special hearings, discussed administrative transfers, and heard a public commenter who urged the board to deny upcoming liquor licenses.
The board approved minutes from special hearings on March 24, March 30, April 13 (the clerk noted a date label error that was corrected) and June 17, 2026. Motions to approve were made and seconded; votes were recorded in the meeting minutes. The clerk reported there were three administrative transfers this month.
During the general public comment period, Lynn Siegel of 538 Dewey in Boulder identified herself and urged the board to "deny every possible liquor license coming up through this board," calling herself "a modern day Boulder prohibitionist" and saying she does not believe alcohol is a positive contribution to the community. Board members acknowledged the comment but did not take action in response.
Staff also discussed planning for an August 12 retreat and asked members to submit suggested agenda items by July 20; Sarah Riggs was named as the staff lead for the retreat. The board adjourned at 3:21 p.m.
No legislative updates were presented at the meeting; the licensing clerk noted routine administrative items and invited members to propose retreat topics.
