Cabell County Commission approves routine agenda items, backs Fairfield East early learning center and hires three EMTs

Tim Hazelette, chief operating officer of the Cabell-Huntington Health Department, presented an update on CCUBEA and brought enforcement letters for the commission’s review. Following his presentation, the commission approved the enforcement-letter item after a motion by Commissioner Kelli Sobonya and a second by Commissioner John Mandt Jr.
The commission adopted the Cabell County Commission Public Meeting Policy and approved renewal of the West Virginia Communities Risk Pool (WVCoRP) general liability and workers compensation policy. Councilwoman Johnson spoke on behalf of the Fairfield East Community as the commission voted to approve a letter of support for the proposed Fairfield East Community/Early Learning Center.
A resolution to employ three full-time emergency medical technicians — Tony Johnson, Aidan Oldaker and Alexis Bowles — was approved by the commission. Commissioners also approved a motion authorizing the commission president to execute a deed to Air Gas pursuant to a court order, and placed several utility-district board minutes and supporting financial and field reports on the record, including Pea Ridge PSD and Salt Rock Water PSD documents.
Mckailey Krisp, representing the Huntington High School Future Business Leaders of America, addressed the commissioners to share the group’s accomplishments during the citizens-registered-to-speak portion of the meeting.
