Prairie County updates road policy, approves cattle-guard pricing and forwards resolution

The Prairie County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 30 reviewed updates to the county's road policy and approved a revised pricing schedule for road work, including a motion to set cattle-guard construction at $200 per foot, adjusted for the consumer price index.
Road Supervisor Todd Henry told the commission the county's road-mileage figures are based on the 2010 Census and are out of date; he reported new signage had been ordered to warn of grading and other roadwork. Commissioners discussed rates for cattle guards, cattle guard construction materials and other sale-and-service pricing.
Commissioner Todd Devlin moved to set cattle guards at $200 per foot adjusted for CPI; Commissioner Dennis Teske proposed and passed an amendment to increase all proposed prices by 10% plus CPI. The amended motion passed on voice vote, after which Commissioner Christine Keltner moved to forward the pricing schedule as a resolution; that motion also passed by voice vote.
The county clerk will prepare the formal resolution for future publication and adoption; the updated fees will be handled through the resolution process before being applied to contracts and work orders.
