Planning commission adopts Resolution 2026‑01 to strengthen rural road base

The Sumner County Regional Planning Commission voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026‑01, which revises the county Subdivision Regulations' Rural Estate road cross section by increasing the base thickness from 2 inches to 3 inches.
County Planner Sydny Simpson said the change was discussed in the work study session prior to the meeting and that the public notice was published in the Gallatin News on April 2, 2026. "The change is to revise the Rural Estate Cross Section from the 2\" base to a 3\" base," Simpson said.
Vice Chairman Chrissi Miller moved approval; Adam Issa seconded. No members of the public spoke during the public hearing and the motion carried unanimously.
The adopted change updates binder and stone base requirements for rural road sections in the county's subdivision standards; staff will implement the revision in future plat reviews and plan checks.
