Story County supervisors approve pay adjustments, generator service contracts and licenses

The Story County Board of Supervisors on July 7 approved routine personnel and consent-agenda items including multiple pay adjustments and vendor agreements.
Supervisor Latifah Faisal moved and Supervisor Linda Murken seconded approval of several personnel pay adjustments effective July 12, 2026. Adjustments recorded in the meeting packet include Auditor Scott Wall to $38.17 per hour; Facilities Management’s Kelly Anderson to $33.73 per hour; Recorder Lori Arends to $23.29 per hour; Secondary Roads employees Mark Handsaker to $33.51 per hour and Ryan Peterson to $38.38 per hour; and sheriff’s office payroll rates for Jennifer Adams ($2,383.83 per biweekly), Michael Casper ($2,588.58 per biweekly), Carson Linkenmeyer ($3,520.45 per biweekly) and Brett Sink ($3,886.23 per biweekly). The motion passed on a roll-call vote recorded as unanimous among those present.
On the consent agenda the board approved the following items as listed in the packet: two service agreements with Ziegler Companies for inspections and service to generators and transfer switches (Engineer’s Building at $7,885.98 per year and the Administration Building at $11,230.97 per year; both effective July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029); a Class C retail alcohol license for Sunny Heights Event Center and Bed & Breakfast (17641 Templeton Road, Ames) effective Sept. 2, 2026–Sept. 1, 2027; acknowledgment of the chair’s signature on a retail tobacco license for Ames Golf & Country Club (5752 George Washington Carver Avenue, Ames) effective July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027; a 28E agreement for animal control services with the cities of Zearing and Collins (effective upon signature–June 30, 2027); a software support renewal with Solutions, Inc. for $28,616.51 for July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027; and a memorandum of understanding with the Iowa Department of Management for endpoint detection and response software and enhanced security services, effective July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, provided at no cost to the county. The clerk recorded the roll-call vote as unanimous among those present.
