The Kane County Commission adopted an ordinance Feb. 24 to revise business‑license regulations, including how the county handles alcohol permits and late penalties.
County staff member Jeff said the update aligns county practice with state code: applicants for an alcohol permit must obtain a separate alcohol business license in addition to a regular business license, meet all state requirements and provide a background check so the county can vet applicants. “They do have to get a business license for the alcohol in addition to the regular business license, and they do have to show us a background check,” Jeff said. The revisions also clarified the late‑penalty wording.
Staff said the sheriff’s office reviewed the changes and found them acceptable. Commissioners moved to adopt the ordinance and voted in favor during the meeting.
