Commission approves courthouse roof contract 2–1 after ADA and elevator updates; dissent cites concerns

The Granite County Commission voted 2–1 on July 7 to approve a contractual agreement with TCS Northwest for a courthouse roof replacement project after hearing project scheduling and ADA-related updates. TCS representatives said ADA parking improvements were nearly complete and that Otis would install an elevator battery-backup system at a reduced cost to the contractor. Commissioner McLure moved to approve the roof contract and Commissioner Kulaski seconded; Commissioner Adler registered the dissenting vote.
TCS Northwest said material lead times were acceptable to allow construction this construction season if the contract were signed promptly and committed to providing a project schedule and superintendent contact information to county staff. Commissioners discussed future elevator maintenance options but agreed to proceed with Otis for now and to monitor performance. "A project schedule will be provided within the following week and a separate commercial superintendent will oversee the roof project," TCS said.
The commission asked staff to collect the superintendent's contact details to coordinate construction activities.
