County renews Area V Home Companion Program agreement with hospital; hospital reports temporary imaging service limits

Granite County commissioners unanimously approved renewal of the Area V Home Companion Program agreement with Granite County Medical Center (GCMC) on July 7, keeping funding levels unchanged for fiscal year 2026–27. Rachel Johnson, who is in charge of Area V, said the program serves about 16 to 18 clients per month and remains within budget. "Funding levels for Fiscal Year 2026–2027 would remain unchanged and the program continued to serve approximately 16 to 18 clients per month," Johnson said.
Interim Chief Executive Officer Ron Wiens of GCMC briefed the commission after the vote on a separate operational issue: temporary limitations on the hospital's ability to transmit CT and X-ray images for interpretation. He said ambulance services had been notified about temporary diversions for patients requiring imaging and that GCMC was working with Billings Clinic to restore full service. Monica Prince of Drummond Ambulance asked that both local ambulance services receive updates as services resumed; county officials said mutual aid agreements keep the county covered when volunteer crews are unavailable.
Commissioners noted the county would retain the option to resume administration of the program if necessary and that staff would monitor program performance and imaging service restoration.
