Several neighbors told the Malden City Council on June 15 that they are experiencing persistent problems they associate with the Voyage Healthcare residential facility.
Brian Vent (1317 Merritt) and Dale Heck (1315 Merritt) described repeated incidents of trespassing, loitering, public intoxication and harassment of nearby residents and, they said, some residents of the facility, including elderly neighbors and minors. They urged the council to pursue stronger enforcement and suggested filing a licensing complaint with the Missouri Division of Health and Senior Services.
City officials and the administrator said the city’s regulatory reach is limited for licensed businesses but urged residents to document incidents with the police and to file complaints with the state licensing agency. The administrator agreed to research available municipal options, including enforcement and nuisance remedies, and report back to the council.
No formal enforcement action or licensing complaint was recorded at the meeting; council members encouraged residents to continue to record incidents and file police reports to build evidence for state or agency review.
