Council delays decision on license agreement for 2300 Lakeshore Drive to August

The Long Beach Town Council on July 13 added a license-agreement item for 2300 Lakeshore Drive to the agenda and then moved to postpone final action until the August meeting to allow members more time to review documents.
Town counsel summarized decades-long, informal accommodations involving a seawall, septic system beneath a patio, and driveway encroachment — portions of the property extend into town property (survey evidence dating to 1950 was cited). Counsel said lowering the arrangement into a recorded license agreement would provide certainty to a buyer and the town. Several council members said the item had been added at the last minute and requested the license agreement draft and the survey be circulated to the full council prior to the next meeting. Kendra Bartlett moved to postpone the item to August; the motion carried.
Council members emphasized they want time to review the legal document and associated survey materials before deciding whether to authorize the town to record a license that would allow the encroachments to remain conditionally. The clerk and town attorney agreed to provide the license draft and historic survey to council members ahead of the August meeting.
