Scottish Rite clinic outlines speech and hearing services for young children at Neighborhood Council No. 5 meeting

Molly Beck, clinic director of the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorders Clinic, described the clinic’s services at the Neighborhood Council No. 5 meeting on June 15 in Great Falls.

Beck said the clinic, established in 1992 and housed in the Scottish Rite Building, provides speech, language and feeding evaluations and intervention and offers hearing screenings. She said all clinicians are licensed and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and that the clinic gives priority to children six years and younger who lack access to other services. Beck added the clinic accepts most major insurance carriers and that grant funding is available to help families who otherwise lack coverage. The council also handled routine business: members read and unanimously approved the meeting minutes. Council Co-Chair Howard Plouffe and members Greg Milton and Luella Vogel were listed as present; Tom Kotynski and Dylan Lennox were excused. Minutes as recorded did not list a mover, seconder or roll-call votes for the approval.

Plouffe and Milton reported they had attended a Great Falls/Cascade County CrimeStoppers presentation; the minutes note seven of nine neighborhood council representatives were present for that event and encouraged residents to report incidents to CrimeStoppers at 406-727-7688.

The council said it will discuss an August Neighborhood Ice Cream Social at its July meeting. The June 15 meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for July 20 at 7 p.m. and will include a Great Falls Fire Department update from Fire Chief Jeremy Virts.
