Board of Fire Commissioners renews training software and hears June activity and apparatus updates

The chief told the board the department provided mutual aid twice in June, to the Larchmont Fire Department and the Greenville Fire Department, and that two members remain on long-term absence. The chief also said probationary firefighter Kevin Lee is continuing training at the Westchester County Career Fire Academy, with graduation scheduled for 10 a.m. July 17 at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center.
The chief described several equipment and logistics items. Two ice machines the board previously approved have been delivered to Station 2 and Station 4; the department is awaiting a plumber's quote to install them. The chief reported the old shop truck (car 2105) was auctioned on Auctions International, with "the winning bid [of] $17,200," and thanked Chief Yazzo for handling the surplus. He updated the board on a new Pierce engine ordered in September 2024: production began May 7 and the engine is expected to be delivered in early August, with one to two months required afterward to mount tools and radios before it enters service.
On procurement, the chief requested authorization to sign a renewal with Vector Solutions Software for an annual fee of $17,101.79 to continue EMS training and apparatus check reporting and to add a scheduling module with callback and overtime scheduling. "I'm asking for a motion to allow the renewal at that $17,101.79 for the Vector Solutions software," the chief said. The board moved, seconded and approved the renewal by voice vote.
Labor union leadership thanked the board. Joe Costanza, president of Local 916, told commissioners, "I just wanna thank the board and the chiefs for getting the new ice machines for the firehouses for our members as well as for getting the Vector scheduling." He invited members to march in Saturday's parade.
