The Montrose City Council on May 18 accepted the city's 2025 audit, approved plans for a street improvement project and authorized travel and training for the fire department.
Andy Murray of Abdo (speaker 8) presented the 2025 audit and offered further questions. "We performed your 2025... presentation on the financial information, including all your different funds," he said, and the council voted to accept the audit as presented (vote recorded as 5-0).
City Engineer Spencer Johnson (speaker 3) asked the council to adopt a resolution approving plans and specifications for the Clementa (Camonta) Avenue improvement project and to allow advertisement for bids; council approved that action (vote recorded as 5-0).
Kevin presented a request to authorize attendance of five fire officers at the Minnesota Fire Chiefs Conference in Duluth, Oct. 14-17, 2026, and asked for permission to overspend the travel budget to cover higher hotel costs. The council authorized attendance and authorized overspending to be covered by other line items (both votes recorded as 5-0). Kevin noted the city budgeted $7,500 for travel and cited estimated room costs between $350 and $400 per night for five rooms.
The council also accepted a donation from the Delano Youth Hockey Association (resolution 2026-21), which was approved unanimously (vote recorded as 5-0).
