District construction update: press box near completion, track delayed until warmer weather

Facilities staff provided the board with a multi‑site construction update, reporting steady progress on the baseball complex, press box and junior high foundations while warning that track work is weather‑sensitive and may slip to summer.

Facilities presenter (Speaker 7) said electrical and plumbing are nearing completion at the baseball field; the leach fields have been installed and the district is preparing inspections so the team can install the infield and turf. "They installed the septic and the leach fields...so our right field is gonna be the greenest area out there once everything starts working around there," the presenter said.

Work on the indoor facility is at the groundwork stage and crews will soon survey locations for support piers. The athletics press box is nearly skinned, waiting on parts, and the junior high foundation work is nearly complete, with plumbing and backfill progressing.

Staff told the board that retaining walls at the north and south ends of the football field must be completed before repaving and track installation. Because track surface requires warmer temperatures for proper installation, facilities staff cautioned that the track likely will not be poured until summer. "They can't do the track in until summertime because it has to be a certain temperature," the presenter said.

Board members asked about sequencing to avoid interfering with practices and discussed pedestrian access, temporary fencing and phasing so that fields remain usable where possible. Staff said they will coordinate inspections and provide the board with updated timelines and photos for public posting.
