Staff member S5 told the board that the district did not previously have a written procurement policy and that the new policy documents set out procedures for RFPs, invitations to bid, record retention periods (some records kept three years, others seven), and price-setting tools for school meals. The changes respond directly to audit recommendations, S5 said.
The board discussed the policy and then voted to adopt it. Chair S2 called for a motion; the motion was made and seconded on the record and the board approved the measures without recorded dissent in the public dialogue.
What happens next: staff will post the policy materials in the board packet area and implement the retention and procurement processes described; routine budget adjustments and operational bars were also processed as part of the consent/finance items at the meeting.
