Board approves procurement policy, body‑camera and IT contracts and clears claims

At its meeting the Brown County Board of Commissioners completed routine business and approved several operating contracts and claims.

The board approved a 64‑page procurement policy presented by Kim (online). Commissioners said the policy is consistent with prior years and reflects a federal pass‑through funding role for certain programs.

A contract amendment for the sheriff's office interview‑room cameras (addendum to the existing body‑cam contract) was presented for signature following attorney review. A commissioner noted the county expects to save by paying up front on negotiated terms: "We are saving a significant amount of money, I think, somewhere around 13 or $14,000," the commissioner said during discussion.

The board also approved an interim IT support services contract with a Bloomington firm (discussed as D Town IT/V Town IT) at a stated hourly rate of $100 per hour.

Commissioners reviewed the claims packet and approved claims as presented after confirming contracts had been added since the prior day’s packet review. The board reapproved a previously approved Everpar contract after locating a version with the correct sum (noted as $7,312.50 in the packet).

These votes were recorded by roll call during the meeting; commissioners directed staff to proceed with execution of the approved contracts and to file corrected documents in the county record.

The board also noted upcoming agenda items and presentations, including an NDOT presentation on Pumpkin Ridge Road scheduled for July 16, and administrative follow‑ups on American Legal Publishing and a school‑resource‑officer memorandum.
