Village reports small sanitary sewer overflow; Pro-Pipe clearing extended to roughly 12 weeks

Wastewater Operations Manager Rose Fenton told the council a sanitary sewer overflow occurred earlier on Feb. 25 at the same location as a previous incident. Pro-Pipe contractors were on site and cleared the line. Ms. Fenton estimated that approximately 20–30 gallons of wastewater entered the river but none reached the hot springs pools.
Fenton said required reports will be filed with the Environmental Protection Agency and the New Mexico Environment Department. She also reported the ongoing scoping and cleaning project by Pro-Pipe, originally estimated at eight weeks, has been extended to approximately 12 weeks. She noted that six rate-cap exemption applications have been approved to date.
What happens next: Pro-Pipe will continue the extended scoping and cleaning work. Village staff will submit regulatory reports to EPA and NMED as required; no enforcement actions or penalties were recorded in the Feb. 25 meeting minutes.
